Online app shows lower traffic flow border checkpoints

A new application can be accessed on the website of the Romanian Border Police, which maps the route to border crossing points with lower traffic flows, spokesperson of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Police Commissioner Monica Dajbog, announced on Saturday.

According to the cited official, for the Romanians who plan to transit the border crossing points these days, there is a section on the Border Police website that displays the average waiting time for all the road border checkpoints, allowing drivers to choose the less congested route. An online application is available as of today, which can be accessed from any computer, mobile terminal, smartphone or tablet with an internet connection and which uses Google Maps Navigation to configure a route to the border crossing point with lower traffic flow. Border wait times are updated in real time, with green routes indicating wait times of up to 20 minutes, yellow – wait times between 20 and 60 minutes and red – wait times of over 60 minutes,” said Monica Dajbog in a press statement at the seat of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The Ministry’s spokesperson said that over 1.2 million persons have transited Romania’s cross-border checkpoints this week.
