Admirers can pay last tribute to late actor George Alexandru at Nottara Theatre

The coffin carrying the body of actor George Alexandru was placed on Monday for a few hours in the foyer of the Nottara Theatre, so that those who loved and appreciated the late actor could pay him one last tribute.

Those who came to pay their respects included actors Alexandru Repan, Cristian Sofron, Ada Navrot, Corina Dragomir, Laura Anghel, Dani Popescu and sprint canoer and Olympic champion Ivan Patzaichin.

The actor’s wife, Manuela Alexandru, made a point to dismiss the rumour that her husband, whom he described as “a wonderful soul, an incredibly loving husband, a loving friend, a joy of a man, sensitive,” had suffered a suspicious death and rejected the information that the family was requesting an investigation.

“The only declaration I want to make is in connection to the news story disseminated by a certain TV channel according to which there was a suspicious death and that the family would like an investigation. Completely false. I want to tell you officially: I was all the time in the hospital, next to my husband, the doctors showed an incredible determination, an uncompromising professionalism, it is a tragic event, like any departure of one of us, there is nothing sensational, and fake news stories in these moments reflect the lack of professionalism of those manufacturing them. Many thanks to the staff of Fundeni hospital”, the wife of the actor said.

In his turn, Marinela Tepus, manager of Nottara Theatre, currently closed for not fulfilling seismic regulation, stated that the death of George Alexandru had left a hole that nobody will be able to fill.

“One of the most intelligent, most clear-headed, most caustic actors Nottara has ever had has left us. One of the sincere people and one of the extremely talented actors of this theatre has left us. I want to tell you he left a hole nobody will fill. He left together with the theatre. We are going in exile and he went to heavens. Perhaps from there he will help us more than anybody can, here,” Marinela Tepus stated.

The hallway of Nottara Theatre hosts a screen displaying images from shows Alexandru starred in. Those interested can pay their tribute to the late actor in the foyer of Nottara Theatre until 14.30. The burial will take place at Ghencea 3 Military cemetery.

Actor George Alexandru died on Friday night at Bucharest’s Fundeni hospital.
