Teodor Melescanu joined Tariceanu’s party

Former Foreign Affairs Minister Teodor Melescanu joined the Democrat Liberal Alliance (ALDE), the party led as co-Chairman by Calin Popescu Tariceanu.

Melescanu declared for Mediafax that he did not intend to run for local elections.

“I joined ALDE because it is a member of the Liberal European family”, Melescanu declared.

Moreover, he pointed out that he has not yet reached a decision concerning his candidacy to parliamentary elections, mentioning that “there is plenty of time until then”.

Former Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SIE) during 2012-2014 and a candidate afterwards to the Presidential elections of November 2014, Melescanu was appointed adviser of Prime Minister Victor Ponta afterwards.

On December 3, 2015, Melescanu and Mirel Palada were dismissed as state advisers at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.
