Rasnov Fortress, among the most beautiful ten “snow” castles in the world

Rasnov Fortress of Brasov County was included in the chart of the most beautiful ten castles in the world in wintertime.

The magazine Conde Nast Traveler published a list of the most beautiful ten “snow” castles in the world, with amazing landscapes and imposing fortresses worth visiting during wintertime.
Rasnov Fortress, that registered in 2015 an impressive number of almost 363,000 visitors is included on this chart besides Castle Neuschwanstein (Bavaria, Germany), the Palace of Tzar Alexey Mikhailovich in Kolomenskoye Park (Moscow, Russia), Castle Matsumoto (Japan), Castle Hohenzollern (Germany), Castle Hradcany (Prague, the Czech Republic), Castle Blair (Perthshire, Scotland), Castle Gamlehaugen (Bergen, Norway), Castle Uchisar (Nevsehir, Turkey) and Castle Inuyama (Japan), Mediafax reported.

The Mayor of Rasnov, Adrian Vestea, declared that the distinction has brought him great joy, as it is also justified by the increasing number of tourists registered year after year.
“Until the end of December 2015, there were approximately 362,700 visitors registered, which is a record number. I consider that it is a justified distinction, considering the increasing annual number of visitors registered by Fortress Rasnov.

Unfortunately, we could not benefit by European funds as, at that time, the fortress was facing a lawsuit and it needed to be legally cleared.
And still, now there is an ascending trend, considering that we have had 108,000 visitors in 2013, 241,000 visitors in 2014 and now we have reached almost 363,000 visitors”, Vestea declared.

The Mayor hopes that, in the next years, his fortress will attract at least 500,000 visitors annually.

Fortress Rasnov is a fortified ensemble located on the calcareous hill found at the south of Rasnov city in Brasov county, one of the best preserved fortified ensembles in Transylvania.
The Rasnov fortress controlled, by its strategic position, the access to Transylvania from Valea Rasnoavei.
