The adviser of former President Ion Iliescu – at that time the youngest adviser of a Romanian President – and the strategist of a few electoral campaigns, Adrian Thiess, announced his candidacy to the Mayoralty of Bucharest.
“I think that it is the moment to step forward, to exit the shadow, where I supported other people’s victories, and to fight for my own victory”, Thiess declared for Q Magazine.
“One year of my term will be beyond comparison with all the complete terms of any of the Mayors who have held this position so far. And still, I prefer not to talk about objectives, but to do things!”, Thiess also declared.
At this moment, according to B1 TV, Thiess owns shares at the company Eurostar Catering Expres, the national operator for mobile catering services in upper rank trains in Romania: Blue Arrow and inter-regional trains. Also, he owns, in partnership with his wife, Elena Delia Thiess, three more companies: Dental Center 2001, Dental Expert Center and Casa Elegance D&A 1874, and in partnership with Mihai Craiu, Adrian Thiess owns the daily paper Puterea.
Adrian Thiess is also considered “the man behind the success achieved by Sorin Oprescu”, the dismissed Mayor of Bucharest, according to stiripesurse.ro. The same source also writes that he was able to bring to Bucharest great names of international politics, such as Mikhail Gorbachev or Antonio Di Pietro, the famous anti-Mafia prosecutor.
