Bad weather warnings: Interior Minister orders activation of emergency committees, some 22,000 personnel ready for response action

Minister of Internal Affairs Petre Toba ordered emergency county committees to be activated in all the counties subject to adverse weather advisories, instructing them to monitor the areas known to be at risk of getting clogged by snow, as per the risk analysis conducted over the past five years.

According to a release to Agerpres, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is ready to take action these days in support of local authorities with 22,000 firefighters, police and gendarmes plus 5,000 pieces of equipment; both personnel and equipment can be supplemented depending on weather developments.

Minister Toba chaired on Friday a video-call technical meeting with the prefects and heads of the Internal Affairs Ministry’s central and local structures aimed at delivering the necessary instructions, as Code Yellow and Code Orange high wind, snowfall and blizzard advisories have been issued by the National Meteorology Administration for the country south-east.
