Defence priorities in 2016: Continued army reform, international commitments

According to the strategic priorities for 2016 published by the Government on Friday, the Ministry of National Defence has to set up multinational structures in Romania, to adapt the command and control structure to the actual forces, to carry out the commitments with the international organizations and the country’s strategic partners.

Funds will be allotted to continue the transformation, development and equipment of the Army under a programme spanning through 2027. The Army training level must be increased, including through multinational exercises, and missions abroad must be planned over several years, within the concept of Extended National Security.

The living standard of Army staff will be increased, including through a housing programme and the consolidation of the ministry’s medical system.
