This year Romanians will outspend Hungarians by up to 90 per cent on food ordered online, after in 2015 they outspent them by 50 per cent. The average value of the Romanians’ online food order is 35 per cent higher than the Bulgarians’ too, according to the data offered by foodpanda.ro, Romania’s biggest online platform for food orders.
According to foodpanda.ro, the average value of an order stood at EUR 15.5 in Romania. Bulgarians spend on average EUR 11.7 on food ordered online, 35 per cent less than Romanians, while Hungarians spend on average EUR 8.1, 90 per cent less than Romanians, according to the data collected by the platform.
Nevertheless, Romanians and Hungarians have similar culinary preferences. Pizza and burgers top the list of the type of food most ordered online in Romania and Hungary, while Bulgarians prefer traditional cuisine or Asian cuisine.
Romanians and Bulgarians are comparable when it comes to the time of day when they place their online orders, both preferring to place their orders 15 minutes before lunch or dinner. Most Hungarians on the other hand tend to order at 14.55 p.m.
Foodpanda.ro is the biggest platform for ordering food online, currently having partnerships with 500 restaurants in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, Iasi, Brasov, Constanta, Arad, Ploiesti, Oradea, Galati, Craiova, Sibiu and Buzau.
