The Bucharest Airports National Company (BANC) registered on the two airports it manages – Henri Coanda (Otopeni) and Aurel Vlaicu (Baneasa) – a record level of 9.28 million passengers in 2015, up by 11.6 per cent.
At the same time, the two airports registered 108,566 takeoffs and landings. Of those numbers, the ‘Henri Coanda’ International Airport registered 9.27 million passengers and 97,218 takeoffs and landings.
“The evolution in the number of passengers at the two airports of the Bucharest Airports National Company surpasses the general trend registered at European level. Moreover, the Capital’s airports registered substantial growth in the number of takeoffs and landings, surpassing the European trend in from this point of view too. Thus, last year the number of airplanes handled by Bucharest airports grew by 6.4 per cent year-on-year,” a BANC communiqué reads.
31 air carriers are currently operating on the Henri Coanda International Airport, taking passengers to 70 destinations.
The Bucharest Airports National Company started its activity in 2010 and ensures the operational coordination and management of Bucharest’s two airports. BANC was formed through the merger of the companies that were managing the Henri Coanda International Airport and the Aurel Vlaicu International Airport.
