Romania ends 2015 with 734 km of motorways

Romania’s motorways totalled 733.941 km at end-2015, which cost 13.799 billion lei plus VAT, according to data released on Friday by the National Company for Motorways and National Roads (CNADNR).

Motorways construction peaked in 2013 with 117.885 km, and had its all-time low in 2006 with 17.58 km.

Romania’s oldest motorway is Bucharest-Pitesti, 96 km, commissioned in 2000.

In 2016, the CNADNR earmarked more than 1.73 billion lei for works on 467.27 km of motorways, out of its total state budget allocation of 4.233 billion lei.
