McDonald’s picks partner for Romania

McDonald’s Corporation has announced that Premier Capital SRL has been designated its partner for the development of McDonald’s restaurants in Romania, a partnership in which Daniel Boaje and Melo Hili hold key roles.

The transfer toward a partnership structure for development reflects the general redressing strategy of the brand led by President and CEO Steve Easterbrook, a strategy that includes the long-term goal of operating 95 per cent of the restaurants on the basis of a global franchise system. Starting on January 22, Premier Capital has taken over the ownership and management of all 67 McDonald’s restaurants in Romania and of the 19 McCafe coffee shops, and will ensure the necessary capital to finance the development of McDonald’s in Romania.

McDonald’s has a long-term relationship with the Premier Capital group of companies. Premier Capital is the partner for the development of McDonald’s stores in the Baltic States (Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia), Malta and Greece and has solid experience working with McDonald’s restaurants’ teams and suppliers.

Daniel Boaje is currently CEO of McDonald’s Romania and will remain in office within the new partnership.

McDonald’s has more than 4,000 employees in its restaurants in Romania, employees that will become part of the Premier Capital family. In 2015, McDonald’s was nominated the best employer in Romania for the second consecutive year, according to AON Hewitt.

McDonald’s plays an important role in the Romanian economy, having developed over 300 partnerships with local suppliers.
