Minister Delegate Stoenescu invites Romanians abroad to enter Electoral Register

Minister Delegate for the Relation with Romanians Everywhere Dan Stoenescu on Saturday, in a live video message on his Facebook page, invited the Romanians abroad to enter the Electoral Register.

“For the voting process to unfold under optimal conditions, we recommend that you enter the Electoral Register, and this way more polling stations can be set up closer to your residence. If the authorities can estimate the number of electors, then the necessary conditions for the electoral process unfolding can be provided. I invite all the citizens abroad to enter this register,” Stoenescu said on Saturday in the aforementioned context.

Previously, in the morning, the Foreign Affairs Ministry had announced in a release that the Minister Delegate the Relation with Romanians Everywhere will broadcast a live message to the Romanians abroad, on his official Facebook page (Dan Stoenescu).

“The Romanians interested in the postal voting topic or the situation of the Romanian communities in the vicinity are expected starting 11,00hrs to address questions, live, to the Minister Delegate. The campaign #DialogFaraFrontiere (#DialogueWithoutBorders), carried out as a first in Romania, is part of a series of measures devoted to facilitating and making more transparent the communication with Romanians everywhere and to promoting the new modalities of voting available to the Romanians abroad,” the MAE release reads.

Within the same dialogue, Minister Dan Stoenescu brought to mind that the postal voting is enforced only for the parliamentary elections.

“If you are visiting your relatives or spending your holiday abroad, you cannot vote,” Stoenescu pointed out.

He showed that the vote of the Romanians living abroad is extremely important, maintaining that this way those in the Diaspora can remain connected and bring a change for the better to Romania.

According to the law, the Romanians abroad can sign up in the Electoral Register starting April 1.
