The National Tourism Authority (ANT) will participate at the Destinations Holiday and Travel Show in London on February 4-7. “Destinations” is United Kingdom’s biggest tourism show dedicated exclusively to the public, registering over 35,000 visitors every year. This year, over 800 companies – national tourism offices, hotels, tour operators, air carriers, rent-a-car companies – from 90 countries and territories will take part in the event, according to a communiqué published by ANT.
“In 2016, there should be no tourist in the United Kingdom or anywhere else in the world who hasn’t heard of Transylvania, Romania. And who would not want to visit us at least once. And if they come to Transylvania we invite them to extend their stay because they have a lot more to see and experience in all geographical regions,” Razvan Marc, ANT’s representatives in London, stated.
The event mostly draws visitors from London and an area 50 miles (80 kilometres) around it (85 per cent of the visitors), basically the inhabitants of affluent areas with easy access to air transport infrastructure. Over 89 per cent of the visitors are part of the ABC1 categories (educated, high level of available income) and what is known as the “affluent greys” – over 50, retired, frequent travellers, with money and time for vacations.
ANT will use a 32 square metre exhibition stand furnished by organizers and decorated by ANT’s London office. The ANT stand will host nine co-exhibitioners from Romania. “Considering the fact that Transylvania tops the list of world regions that should be visited in 2016, ANT will use the region promoted by Lonely Planet as an engine in order to bring to the British public’s attention Romania’s other tourism regions too,” the ANT representatives state in the communiqué.
Likewise, the ANT London office has concluded a partnership with Sony Pictures and will launch on DVD, immediately after the fair, the ‘Hotel Transylvania 2’ animation film. The stand will have a panel depicting the Bran Castle and characters from the animation film. All visitors that take a picture with the Bran Castle and upload it on Twitter with the “visithotel” hash tag could win prizes offered by Sony Pictures and ANT. Those visiting Romania’s stand will be able to take part in daily raffles and can win air tickets to Romania, offered by Blue Air. During the four-day fair, visitors will be able to taste traditional Romanian biofarm products.
