Romania’s national women’s tennis team members – Simona Halep, Monica Niculescu, Andreea Mitu, Raluca Olaru and Alina Tecsor – on Wednesday dressed up like soldiers and had a picture taken of them with the national flag, giving the salute, as they were pleasantly surprised by the Romanian Army troops rooting for them in their Fed Cup first group tier this weekend.

Our girls will compete against the Czech team this weekend in the Fed Cup, in Cluj Napoca, and we have to cheer them on. We had the surprise returned as the girls dressed up in their customized tee-shirts bearing their respective names and military green berets. (…) Go Romania! Go girls! We are with you!” reads a Facebook post accompanied by a picture uploaded on the Facebook page of Romania’s Defence Ministry.
Also posted on the same page is a video message of the Transylvanian Dragons from Afghanistan specially designed to cheer on the Romanian women’s tennis team and watched by them.
