Tarom to have new CEO.The company needs commercial strategy before starting the procurement procedure

The authorities will start as soon as possible the procedure of selecting the CEO of Tarom, on the basis of a corporate governance ordinance, against the backdrop in which the tenure of current Tarom CEO Christian Heinzmann is approaching its end, Transport Minister Dan Costescu stated after his meeting with Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos.

Asked whether Christian Heinzmann will remain at the helm of Tarom, the minister pointed out that he can sign up for the competition that will result in the selection of the new CEO, a competition that will be launched soon on the basis of emergency ordinance no.109/2011 on the corporate governance of state-owned companies.

In what concerns the renewal of Tarom’s air fleet, the Transport Minister reiterated that Tarom will have to first define its commercial strategy, to know what routes it wants to fly and when. According to him, the commercial strategy will be devised by a consultant, the process of selecting the latter having already started, with the bids being set to be opened on February 15.
