President Klaus Iohannis on Tuesday sent a letter to the premier of the German land of Bavaria, Horst Seehofer, extending his condolences to the victims of a train crash the same day near the Bavarian spa town of Bad Aibling.
“I have learned with deep sorrow about the railway tragedy this morning in Upper Bavaria. Let me extend to you and the families of the victims my sincerest condolences. My heart goes out to the victims, their relatives and friends. May the injured get a speedy recovery!”, reads the letter released by the Presidential Administration.
At least nine people died and some 90 were injured when two commuter trains collided head-on near the spa town of Bad Aibling, in the southern German land of Bavaria, German Police are quoted as saying by the DPA news agency.
President Iohannis will start on Thursday a working visit to Bavaria to meet Chair of the local Parliament Barbara Stamm; on Friday, he is scheduled to meet local premier Horst Seehofer and hold a joint news conference with him.
