Romania-Denmark: opportunities for cooperation in the energy sector

On Monday, February 8, Energy Minister Victor Grigorescu (photo) met His Excellency Karst Vagn Nielsen, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark.
The talks focused on the two countries’ action plans in the energy domain, such as energy security and efficiency.

“The Kingdom of Denmark is an important economic partner for Romania, and the two states’ European Union membership requires close cooperation, including in the energy domain. The Danish experience when it comes to the solutions adopted for central heating can represent a topic of collaboration between the two countries’ specialists,” Minister Victor Grigorescu stated.
The Romanian official expressed the ministry’s openness to collaborating with the Danish Embassy and with the Danish companies present on the market, including in order to attract new Danish investments in the energy domain.

In the first 10 months of 2015 the volume of bilateral trade stood at EUR 403.2 M – Romanian exports of EUR 182.4 M and Danish exports of EUR 220.8 M. On 30 November 2015, according to the National Trade Registry Office, there were 858 Danish companies in Romania (0.43 per cent of total foreign companies in Romania), with an invested capital of EUR 222.7 M (0.57 per cent of the foreign capital subscribed in our country), placing Denmark on 23rd place among the top foreign investors in Romania.
