PM Ciolos: Developing defence industry and equipping armed forces, Gov’t priorities

The Government wants to develop Romania’s defence industry and to modernize the armed forces. The announcement was made by Premier Dacian Ciolos on Thursday.

“We can create jobs over the short and medium term by combining our strategic needs to equip the armed forces with the need to develop the defence industry. I want us to go in this direction,” the Premier stated, adding that he has discussed this with President Iohannis too.

“I discussed this with President Klaus Iohannis too and we want to go in this direction, to develop the defence industry and equip the armed forces,” Dacian Ciolos said, explaining that the economy also would stand to benefit from a hike of investment in this domain and jobs would be created too.

According to him, the defence industry needs to be technologically upgraded.
