PSD Senator Firea: I haven’t finished mediation with Basescu, I believe it wasn’t a very serious intention anyway

PSD Senator Gabriela Firea stated on Saturday evening that she did not finish the mediation with former president Traian Basescu in the case that is being handled by the Prosecutor General’s Office, because of reasons that cannot be blamed on her.
“Unfortunately, I haven’t completed the mediation, for reasons that cannot be blamed on me. I believe there wasn’t even a serious mediation intention. The prosecutor’s office will inform us, in the following period, what will happen in this case,” Gabriela Firea stated on B1TV.

Investigators reopened on 30 December 2014 the case in which Gabriela Firea accused Traian Basescu of blackmail since the former head of state no longer had immunity.

The two sides signed a mediation contract in November 2015.

On 16 April 2014, Gabriela Firea filed a criminal complaint, accusing President Traian Basescu of threats and blackmail following statements he made during a talk show.

“In an interview broadcast on 13 April 2014, referring to Ms. Senator Firea Gabriela’s parliamentary activity within the parliamentary commission investigating the legality of the purchases of plots of land in Nana commune, Calarasi County, Traian Basescu stated: ‘She’d better mind her own business and deal with what is happening on her husband’s estate, where he is mayor, because she might not find him home one day unless… She’s careful… I understand fairly bad things are taking place in his parish,’” Firea pointed out in her complaint.
