Novel marathon on Black Sea shore. Dragobete, celebrated by running with your loved one

Couples from Constanta and from among tourists present at the seaside will be able to celebrate Dragobete in a novel way on Sunday, February 21, by taking part in a romantic running race. The Love2Run race is organized by the “SanaSport” Sports Association, in partnership with the Constanta City Hall, the Constanta County Directorate for Sport and Youth and Radio Constanta, and will take place on Modern Beach in Constanta.

The event, which is part of the “Sand Marathon 2016” international project, is meant to promote sport through fun-filled events, the Constanta Municipality’s historic areas and the only marathon in Europe that takes place on sand. “Love2Run is not a simple running race, it’s a love race, in which we engage in sport alongside our significant other. It is a race in which we celebrate love and, at the same time, we mark the start of spring, since the month of March is very close. There is no problem for those that want to take part in the race but do not have a partner. Nobody is left alone on Dragobete, and we will make sure everyone runs in pairs and, why not, will find the significant other,” Daniel Antonaru, President of the “Sana Sport” Sports Association and organizer of the Sand Marathon, stated.

Love2Run is the last fun-marathon in the series of three events that precede the “Sand Marathon” international competition. The third edition of the international event will take place on 27 March 2016, in Mamaia resort, and is open to amateur runners as well as professional athletes. At the same time, the famous event represents an unusual way of promoting sport and the new Romanian seaside at international level. The event consists of three competitions: the individual marathon race (42.195 km), the semi-marathon race (21.097 km), the 10-km race and the “Family Run” popular race that seeks to promote family sport and to combat child obesity, a phenomenon that reached alarming levels in recent years in Romania.

At this year’s edition of the Sand Marathon, the participants will run for a noble cause, namely helping out prematurely born babies or babies with medical conditions. The “Give the First Smile” humanitarian campaign was started by the “Give Wings” Association and seeks to reconstruct and modernize the Constanta County Emergency Hospital’s intensive care ward for newborns and premature babies’ compartment.

Those interested in taking part in the “Love2Run” race or the Sand Marathon 2016 can register online on the event’s website – www.maratonulnisipului.ro.
