Romanian women’s national football team receive martisor amulets from French Embassy

On March 1, the French Embassy in Bucharest hosted the “Women’s Football Celebration” event. On this occasion, Mr. Francois Saint-Paul, French ambassador to Romania, offered martisor amulets to the members of the Romanian women’s national football team. The event took place in the context in which France will host the Euro 2016 European Football Championship, which will open with the France vs. Romania game, but also the Women’s Football World Cup in 2019.

On Women’s Day, the staffs of the French and Romanian women’s football teams reached an agreement to play a friendly game, as a preliminary to the men’s Euro 2016 game. The game will take place in April on the ‘Nicolae Dobrin’ stadium in Pitesti.

The Romanian national team was headed by Romanian Football Federation (FRF) President Razvan Burleanu.

Dinamo FC owner Ionut Negoita, sports manager Ionel Danciulescu and French players Marcel Essombe and Harlem Gnohere, the latter accompanied by his son, also attended the event.
