PNL Co-President Alina Gorghiu sees PSD’s Gabriela Firea as “good candidate”

PNL Co-President Alina Gorghiu stated on Wednesday that the upcoming local elections campaign will be the “dirtiest” since the presidential elections.

“It will be a campaign that, unfortunately, will not be based on projects of substance but on attacking the candidates. This is the only recipe that PSD knows. Every time they choose an aggressive, dirty campaign featuring personal attacks, which was proven to be a hand with which PSD loses,” Gorghiu stated for Adevarul Live.

In what concerns Ludovic Orban, the candidate PNL stakes on for the Bucharest City Hall, the PNL Co-President stated that there is currently no kind of accusation levied against him. “At this moment there is no kind of accusation levied against Ludovic Orban, had there been a chink PSD would have exploited it one thousand times,” Gorghiu said.

She revealed that she proposed to Cristian Busoi, the first PNL candidate nominated for the Bucharest City Hall, to run for the District 1 Mayoralty but he refused. “I proposed running for one of the districts, I would have liked him to run for the District 1 Mayoralty, but he refused. I am absolutely convinced he would have won,” the PNL leader added.

In what concerns PSD, the main contender in the race for the Bucharest City Hall, Gorghiu said that both Gabriela Firea and Serban Nicolae would be good candidates.

“Ms. Firea is a good candidate we are monitoring very carefully. There is a Serban Nicolae who could be a good candidate, in the sense that he deserves all of our attention. He is a candidate with the PSD badge on him. (…) Mr. Tariceanu is just as Social Democrat as Gabriela Firea and Serban Nicolae,” Alina Gorghiu added. She stated that there is openness for talks on forming local alliances with the M10 party, the “200 for Bucharest” party and Nicusor Dan’s United Save Bucharest.

Monica Macovei rules out alliance with PNL. Nicusor Dan does not want Orban

MEP Monica Macovei, President of the M10 party, stated on Wednesday that she rules out an alliance with PNL for the Bucharest City Hall. Meanwhile, Nicusor Dan has stated he does not rule out dialogue with PNL representatives although he is sceptical and does not back Ludovic Orban’s candidacy.

“We rule out an alliance with PNL for the Bucharest City Hall,” MEP Monica Macovei pointed out for Mediafax.

In his turn, Uniti Salvam President Nicusor Dan stated that he does not rule out dialogue with PNL, nevertheless stating that it is unlikely for PNL “to truly want a political change within the Bucharest administration.”

“We have been fighting for 10 years for a different way of making politics, different than the one adopted by everyone so far, PNL included. We believe it is unlikely for PNL to truly want a political change within the Bucharest administration, but yes, we will talk, but we want to see the political platform and the people, but I find it hard to believe…,” Uniti Salvam President Nicusor Dan stated for Mediafax.

Nicusor Dan stated that Uniti Salvam (“united we save”) would not agree with backing PNL’s current candidate Ludovic Orban “regardless of his political platform.”
