NETOPIA mobilPay: Digital payments up by over 25 pc in 2015

NETOPIA mobilPay, the leader of digital payments in Romania, brokered over 2.6 million online and mobile transactions in 2015, up by 25 per cent year-on-year. Moreover, over 45 per cent of them were made from mobile devices.

According to NETOPIA mobilPay data, the total value of the sums paid digitally in 2015 grew by 60 per cent year-on-year, totalling over EUR 135 M. In what concerns the average value paid per online transaction in 2015, it stood at RON 230.

Most of the payments brokered by the company last year were for IT&C products, tourism services and packages, but also home & deco, personal care products, books and digital games.

“Last year was one with growth across the board, one in which we concluded that digital payments are no longer the future but the present in Romania. NETOPIA mobilPay continues to be the vanguard of mobile payments on mobilPay Wallet too, the only digital wallet in the country that can be used to pay for shopping, utility bills, restaurant meals and more recently property management fees,” NETOPIA mobilPay CEO and Founder Antonio Eram (photo) stated.

NETOPIA mobilPay is leader on the electronic and mobile payments market in Romania. In June 2010, NETOPIA mobilPay became the first Romanian product awarded in a competition in Silicon Valley. The Romanian app was among the top three technologies most voted at the first exhibition for start-ups, an event that took place in the global hub of IT giants.
