Actresses Florina Cercel, Adela Marculescu and Rodica Popescu-Bitanescu have each received a star on Saturday, on the Alley of Celebrities, in the Time Square of Bucharest.
“Through my power of creation, I’ve always offered love, respect and a lot of gratefulness to the public that has filled the theatre or cinema halls,” said Florina Cercel, while Adela Marculescu has invited to “having a thought for those who are not with us anymore and have fathered the Romanian theatre school.”
“Notwithstanding, we should rather know to thank while they are alive,” the actress added.
In her turn, Rodica Popescu-Bitanescu confessed that “she is floating with happiness in the past days.”
“I’m extraordinarily accomplished that my so many years’ work is acknowledged,” she said.
Theater specialist Manuela Cernat said that Florina Cercel is “a force of the nature, a hurricane, a tsunami capable to unleash the audience’s enthusiasm and dominate the stage, as few personalities could,” while director Felix Alexa praised the “professionalism, the total dedication and energy” that characterize Adela Marculescu. Also, actor Razvan Hancu has characterized Rodica Popescu-Bitanescu in a nutshell ‘in five words’: “actress, director, dramatist, teacher and not least, human being.”
The general mayor ad interim of Bucharest, Razvan Sava made a eulogy of the talent and artistic merits of the three ladies of the Romanian theatre.
The manager of the Metropolis Theatre, George Ivascu was the event’s amphitryon.
