Former Finance Minister Sebastian Vladescu showed up at the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) on Monday, being subpoenaed as witness in a corruption probe into the illegal payment of damages. In this case, PNL MP Ioan Oltean is charged with influence peddling and being an accessory to malfeasance in office. DNA prosecutors accuse Ioan Oltean of intervening with former ANRP President Crinuta Dumitrean in order for businessman Mihai Rotaru, shareholder at CS Universitatea Craiova, to be paid damages for a plot of land whose value was overvalued at RON 87 M. In return, the MP allegedly received EUR 600,000 from Rotaru, through an intermediary who allegedly handed the money over to him in a church in Chitila.
