Businessman Dan Adamescu, one of the richest Romanians, is criminally prosecuted in the case concerning the bankruptcy of Astra Asigurari, DNA prosecutors informed. DNA has remanded him on conditional bail, for a period of 60 days. Adamescu will have to pay a bail of RON 40 M.
Dan Adamescu is a suspect in the Astra case, in which the damage is estimated at RON 700 M.
A DNA communiqué announced on Monday afternoon that Adamescu is suspected of malfeasance in office, money laundering and complicity to malfeasance in office if the civil servant obtains for himself or others an undue benefit (two counts).
