Every year, on 17 March over 70 famous locations around the world are illuminated in green for St. Patrick’s Day. Iconic buildings, such as the Eiffel Tower, the Empire State Building and the Sydney Opera House participate in this event. Bucharest first joined this initiative in 2013 with the illumination of the Palace of Parliament.
“This year, on 14 March, the Sheraton Hotel in Bucharest was illuminated in green for the first time. Green is the national colour of Ireland and this event will deepen the links between Ireland and Romania,” according to a press release of the Irish Embassy.
The Greening of the Sheraton Hotel was launched by HE Mr Derek Feely, Ambassador of Ireland to Romania and took place with the support of the Municipality of Bucharest and the Sheraton Hotel in Bucharest .
