Mircea Ionescu Quintus’ birthday was celebrated on Friday evening, in Ploiesti, by the members of the Prahova branch of the National Liberal Party (PNL), alongside PNL Co-Presidents Alina Gorghiu and Vasile Blaga. Mircea Ionescu Quintus has turned 99.
Mircea Ionescu Quintus stated that he received many phone calls. Romanian Premier Dacian Ciolos was among those who congratulated him.
“My great surprise was Mr. Ciolos’ phone call. I knew him, since we were colleagues in the Tariceanu Government several years ago, but I hadn’t seen him before. I didn’t expect it. He was very nice,” Mircea Ionescu Quintus stated.
PNL’s Honorary President stated that Ion Iliescu also called to congratulate him. “He called me. I am sorry I forgot about his birthday. He said: It’s good that in this country the two large parties have such honorary presidents. And I agreed,” the Liberal added.
PNL’s Honorary President also stated that he supports the political party whose member he is and wants it to win the local elections.
“I want us to win the elections, it’s the first wish. Then, to continue rejuvenating the party, because the party is young. With an old man like me it became younger, probably seeing that it is not very good to be too old,” Quintus added.
Mircea Ionescu Quintus’ birthday was celebrated by party colleagues at the ‘Olimpina’ Sports Hall in Ploiesti, before the PNL candidates for the county’s mayoralties were announced.
