The Chamber of Deputies and Senate Culture committees on Tuesday gave a negative opinion for nominee for president and CEO of the Romanian National Television Broadcasting Corporation (SRTv) George Orbean; Orbean’s bid was voted down 18 to 15.

The new Administration Board of the Romanian National Television Broadcasting Corporation had nominated Orbean for president and CEO of the institution.

He was proposed by the government to sit on the SRTv Administration Board and his appointment will be voted on in the Parliament’s plenary sitting.

At the hearings the Social Democrats announced they will not vote Orbean for SRTv head.

The joint plenum of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate approved on Tuesday the new Administration Board of the TVR Romanian Television Corporation (SRTv) by secret ballot with 312 votes in favour and 21 against; one vote was canceled.
