IT&C sector – engine of the economy: Zitec turnover grows strongly on diversification of service, online marketing in particular

*The Romanian company’s client portfolio includes over 30 clients from the EU and U.S.

Zitec, one of the main local producers of online applications, closed 2015 with a turnover of EUR 4.5 M, up by 37 percent year-on-year. It was the fifth consecutive year in which Zitec registered two-digit turnover growth. In 2016, the company’s representatives stake on a continuation of the upward trend and on the development of its own online marketing segment.

The almost 40 per cent growth in Zitec turnover was generated by technical diversification, the expansion of the client portfolio and the growth of online marketing services offered to partners. Last year, the online marketing services’ share in the company’s turnover stood at 15 per cent, totalling around EUR 700,000, up by 35 percent year-on-year.

The online marketing department had a portfolio that included over 30 EU and U.S. clients active in various industries such as travel, e-commerce, insurances, restaurants, auto parts, auto repairs and B2B. Paravion, City Grill, TechSoup USA, Roche and TotalSoft were among them. Apart from them, there were the CSR projects carried out by older Zitec collaborators, such as the “Joy4Nepal” fundraising campaign organized by Romanian mountain climber Alex Gavan.

“2015 was another year of growth for Zitec, mainly because of the diversification of technologies used, the growth in the volume of online marketing services and the inclusion of large clients in the portfolio. We consider that these results were obtained because of the recognition of the quality of the services we provide, but also thanks to the important projects we chose to get involved in,” Zitec CEO and founder Alexandru Lapusan stated.

Zitec is working with clients from Romania (60 per cent) but also from abroad, from four continents. Some of the most important clients of the local producer of online applications are STMicroelectronics, Network One Distribution, Depanero, Paravion, Flanco, PayU and Lovecrafts. Most of the projects carried out in 2015 were based on the development of customized business management applications (custom ERP), as well as complex customized e-commerce solutions.

The Romanian software producer is using a wide variety of top technologies, namely PHP (Zend Framework, Symfony 2, Drupal, Magento), .NET & Sharepoint, Java, iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Titanium, Backbone, Node.js, Ruby On Rails but also databases such as MySQL, SQLServer, PostgreSQL & NoSQL.

Zitec is the only Amazon AWS Advanced Technology Partner in Romania and one of the few local companies that are Microsoft ISV Gold certified. At the same time, the local producer of online applications has the highest number of Zend (The PHP Company) certified specialists in Romania.

Having a sustained annual growth rhythm, a turnover of EUR 4.5 M in 2015 and with approximately 40 per cent of its revenues coming from external projects developed for partners in the U.S., Canada, UK, Germany, Italy and Denmark, Zitec’s success is confirmed at local level too through the references received from top-level clients such as PayU, Flanco, Amadeus, Paravion, Depanero and Network One Distribution.
