A fourth Romanian national was identified among the victims of the Tuesday morning terrorist attacks in Brussels – a child, the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) announced on Tuesday night.
“It’s a minor who is currently under hospital care and assisted by a family member,” says the MAE in a release to Agerpres.
According to the source, the mobile consular team of the Romanian MAE went to the Brussels hospitals to give the necessary assistance in such cases to the Romanian nationals there.
“The MAE cell crisis, through the Romanian Embassy to the Kingdom of Belgium, stays in permanent contact with the local authorities and goes on with the checking. On Wednesday, a mobile consular team with the MAE crisis cell will travel to Brussels to strengthen the embassy’s consular assistance,” says the MAE release.
The ministry had reported earlier that three Romanians were wounded by bombs in Brussels.

Team of Foreign Ministry’s task force to travel to Brussels on Wednesday
A mobile consular team of the Foreign Ministry’s Task Force will travel to Brussels on Wednesday to assist with the daily activity of the Consular Office of the Embassy of Romania, the staff of which is currently fully involved in handling the situation arisen after Tuesday’s violent incidents, the Foreign Ministry announced in a press release.
The trip of the Foreign Ministry’s team is part of the steps taken to assist the Romanian citizens affected by the explosions in Brussels and of the complex approaches required for ensuring the necessary assistance to the Romanian citizens in Belgium.
“We mention that the mobile consular team of Romania’s diplomatic mission in the Hague, who traveled to Amsterdam to assist the Romanian citizens on board the Tarom Bucharest – Brussels flight, has taken over the passengers who chose to return to Romania; with the support of the Tarom airline’s representative in Brussels, all the formalities were completed for the passengers to effectively board a plane due from Amsterdam to Bucharest on Tuesday. The representative of the Romanian Embassy in the Hague was to stay with the group of Romanian citizens on the airport until they were to effectively board the plane. All the Romanian official delegations currently in Brussels have been provided continuous assistance by the three diplomatic missions on the territory of the Kingdom of Belgium (the Embassy of Romania in the Kingdom of Belgium, the Permanent Representation of Romania to the European Union, and Romania’s Permanent Delegation to NATO) for their safe return to the country within shortest time,” reads the Foreign Ministry’s release.
