Former President Basescu: I am adversary of Islamization of Europe idea

People’s Movement Party (PMP) leader Traian Basescu said on Friday in Piatra Neamt that he is an adversary “without any reservations” of the Islamization of Europe idea. The former president of Romania said that this Islamization is taking place by receiving Islamist migrants without any control, without anyone knowing what they will do in the future, and whether these will adjust to the European way of life.

“The accelerated construction of mosques throughout Europe is part of Islamization. I say that Romania has as many mosques as it needs to cover the needs of the Muslims who live in Romania. (…)Romania should remain Christian, follow its path of Christian country, the Romanian people should follow their path of Christian people, let us not increase unnecessarily the impact of the Islamist religion in Romania,” said Traian Basescu.

He criticized President Klaus Iohannis for resuming the high-level discussion with the Turkish side on building a mosque in Bucharest.

Basescu participated on Friday in Piatra Neamt in the launch of PMP candidates of Neamt County for local elections.
