Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos and Deputy Prime Minister Vasile Dincu on Saturday after-noon arrived at Peles Castle to attend events devoted to the birth anniversary of Princess Margareta and the 135th anniversary of the Proclamation of the Kingdom of Romania.
Ciolos said this is an event close to his heart.
“First of all, this is an event close to my heart. Princess Margareta has been devoted to Romania for many years now, and today it is our turn to celebrate her “, Ciolos said in response to a question about the signification of the events.
According to the scheduled unveiled by the Royal House, Prince Radu presented a certificate to the Times’ People Annual Gala event, attesting to the event being unfolded under the high aegis of the Custodian of the Romanian Crown, as Revista Timpul (Time Magazine), the gala organiser, turned 140 this year.
In the Hall of Honour of Peles Castle, personalities, organisations as well as contributors of the Royal House from Romania as well as Germany, France and the UK were decorated by Crown Princess Margareta on behalf of King Mihai.
Among the honourees was Romania’s Education Minister Adrian Curaj, who was awarded a Custodian of the Romanian Crown medal.
“To me, this was unexpected and extraordinary. (…) To Princess Margareta, a message of gratitude from me for having been offered the opportunity to be joined by her is so many wonderful initiatives (…). To King Mihai, I believe we all pray for the good to watch over His Royal Highness,” Curaj said after the award ceremony, according to Agerpres.
Also decorated were Metropolitan Bishop Teofan of Moldavia, Metropolitan Bishop Joseph of Western and Southern Europe, novelist Mircea Cartarescu, Romania’s Red Cross Organisation, Les petits freres des pauvres Association, as well as tenors Vasile Moldoveanu and Teodor Ilincai.
The schedule also included an anniversary concert by the Royal Chamber Band at the Music Hall of Peles Castel and a reception party in the Moor Lounge and the Italian Lounge, with Princess Margareta expected to give a speech to the attendees.
