+ The event will take place in Bucharest, on April 1-3
Approximately 115 beekeepers from all regions of the country have already announced their presence at the 14th edition of the National Honey Fair, on April 1-3 at the Baneasa Apiarian Platform. The event is mainly dedicated to the consumers of bee products. The event is known and awaited by Bucharesters each spring, according to the representatives of the Romanian Beekeepers’ Association (ACA).
In 2015, the production of honey reported by beekeepers did not surpass 18,000 tons, namely 60-70 percent of the annual average of 22,000 – 24,000 tons, against the backdrop in which the production of rapeseed honey, lime flower honey and sunflower honey dropped significant because of the massive depopulation of hives.
Romania produces an average of 22,000 tons of honey per year, being fourth in Europe from this standpoint, and has a stock of 1.47 million beehives. Around 40,000 beekeepers are registered at national level, 60 percent of them being ACA members with 900,000 beehives.
ACA is an association set up in 1958, the only one with national coverage, which has 40 county branches as well as companies for the distribution of all the equipment and genetic material needed for beekeeping.
