The salaries of over half of public employees will be increased by an average of 5 per cent starting August 1, the Government spokesperson announced on Wednesday.
He pointed out that the Government only considered the second half of salary ranks (the lowest income), which includes “over half of public employees.
According to the Government spokesperson, the most significant increase is granted to social workers – up to 20 per cent – while sums are moderate (1 per cent) in the case of other categories.
The emergency ordinance regulating these changes will be adopted in the Government meeting next week. The law will enter public debates at the beginning of the week, after the Labour Minister seeks advice from labour unions.
