Dozens of Gorj County miners will set out on Monday morning in a protest march of over 300 km, whose final destination is Bucharest, where they will file several memos concerning the layoffs at the Oltenia Energy Holding, bzi.ro informs. The miners are dissatisfied that massive layoffs are scheduled to take place, around 4,000 people being at risk of losing their jobs, according to the restructuring project. The miners will start their protest march at 8 a.m., outside the headquarters of the Rovinari fossil fuel power plant. The march will follow the Targu Jiu – Turceni – Craiova – Slatina – Pitesti – Bucharest route. Organizers say the miners’ march will be peaceful but represents an alarm signal and they want to file memos at the headquarters of the Government, Presidency and Parliament.
