The Lower Chamber rejected on Wednesday the draft amendment to the law on the statute of local representatives, which stipulated special pensions for mayors, deputy mayors, county council chairmen and deputy chairmen, after the Constitutional Court declared the draft amendment unconstitutional. The draft failed to obtain the necessary number of votes, receiving 149 votes in favour, 67 against and 5 abstentions.
The draft amendment will be sent to the Senate for debate and vote, the Senate being the decisive Chamber in this case.
