U.S. Ambassador Klemm asked by Romanian leaders to focus on economic side of partnership

U.S. Ambassador to Romania Hans Klemm says President Klaus Iohannis, Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos and other Romanian leaders have asked him to focus on the economic side of the Romania – U.S. partnership, in order to increase bilateral trade and encourage American investments in Romania.

Klemm said he has promised to do so, but mentioned he cannot instruct American companies where to invest; all he can do, he said, is to encourage investors to look into Romania’s potential and collaborate with the Romanian government to improve the investment climate.

He made these remarks on Thursday, in Prahova County, where he joined PM Ciolos at the inauguration of a car parts (wind-screen wipers) factory of Federal-Mogul Motorparts.

The ambassador also congratulated the prime minister on the announcement of an administration reform to increase its transparency and professionalism and rein in its politicization.
