Eurostat: Romania, highest construction works growth rate in EU

Romania registered in February the highest construction works month-on-month growth rate among all EU member states, the data presented on Tuesday by the European Statistics Office (Eurostat) show.

On the other hand, construction works dropped by 0.4 percent in the EU and by 1.1 percent in the Euro Area.

Among member states, the steepest drops were registered in France (-6 percent), Sweden (-5.1 percent) and Slovenia (-4.1 percent), while the biggest growth rates were registered in Romania (5.1 percent), United Kingdom (3.1 percent) and Bulgaria (2.7 percent).

Year-on-year, construction works registered in February a growth of 2.5 percent in the Euro Area and 2.3 percent in the EU. Among member states, the biggest year-on-year growth rates were registered in Slovakia (18.8 percent), Spain (13 percent), Sweden (11.3 percent) and Romania (8.1 percent), while the steepest drops were registered in Slovenia (-30.8 percent), Hungary (-19.3 percent) and Poland (-10.1 percent).
