“Cinepolitica” Trophy, the great award of the festival, offered by the Romanian Cultural Institute, was granted to “Rabin, The Last Day”, “for the exceptional quality of a cinematographic autopsy.”
The fifth edition of the Cinepolitica International Festival ended on Sunday, April 17, with the premiere of the movie called “Copilăria unui lider/ The Childhood of a Leader”, which represents the debut of the actor Brady Corbet as a film director, being an ambitious, noisy and controversial project. Inspired by the childhood of many dictators of the 20th century, the movie consists in a threatening portrait of the growing Evil.
Yuriy Bikov’s Russian production “Durak” was awarded “The best political movie”, for “its’ powerful story – the ordinary man’s fight against the corrupt and petty system -, but also for the exceptional cinematographic level of the whole production”.
A special mention was awarded to “Les Chevaliers Blancs” (directed by Joachim Lafosse), a powerful drama, inspired from a real case which shocked France in 2007: kidnapping over 100 children from Chad by the well-meaning members of a French NGO.
