Vanghelie to run for District 5 Mayoralty and back Adrian Severin for Bucharest City Hall

Former MEP Adrian Severin (photo) would run for the Bucharest City Hall as the candidate of the Social Justice Party (PDS), backed by Marian Vanghelie, while the suspended mayor would file his bid for a new term in office as District 5 Mayor, PDS sources stated for Mediafax.

The same sources stated that District 5 suspended mayor Marian Vanghelie wants to back former PSD MEP Adrian Severin in the race for the Bucharest City Hall, with Vanghelie being set to offer him a leadership position within his party too.

Former MEP Adrian Severin could hold the position of executive president or president of PDS’s National Council, according to the aforementioned sources. He asked Marian Vanghelie to back only “left-wing people” for Bucharest’s district mayoralties.

Marian Vanghelie could file his candidacy for the District 5 Mayoralty on Monday, considering that the deadline for the filing of candidacies expires on Tuesday, April 26.
