Beloved Johnny Depp is not only a very skillful actor, but also a good musician. This assertion can be confirmed by the Romanians, on the occasion of his first concert in Romania, together with his band, The Hollywood Vampires, and alongside other famous names: Alice Cooper, Aerosmith’s guitar player Joe Perry, bass player Duff McKagan (Guns N’Roses) and drummer Matt Sorum (Guns N’Roses).
In the setlist of The Hollywood Vampires you can find mainly cover versions of artists who are no longer alive, since the band’s intention is to pay a tribute to the rock stars who died in the 70s because of excessive drug and drink – Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Doors -, as well as of active bands, such as The Rolling Stones. The Hollywood Vampires band has its own songs, including “Raise the Dead”, which Romanian fans will be able to listen on the occasion of the concert on June 6.
The event will take place at Romexpo, in Bucharest, being organized by Phoenix Entertainment. Tickets may be purchased in the Eventim network, but also online, at www.eventim.ro, and are available for different price categories, depending on the seats positioning.
His first show – sold out in… 60 seconds!
Johnny Depp started to play at the guitar long time before his debut as a cinema actor in “A Nightmare on Elm Street” (1984). He was only 12 when he bought his first guitar; 3 years later he gave up school in order to relocate from Florida to LA and to play music with a new wave rock band called “The Kids”. That happened in the 80s, and he used to play in the openings of Ramones, Pretenders, Iggy Pop or Talking Heads. His band colleagues were Bruce Witkin, Joey Malone and Beano Hanti. Depp started to play with The Hollywood Vampires in 2015, after he got skilled by practicing before surprisingly appearing at his old friends’ concerts – Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Steve Jones from Sex Pistols or Marilyn Manson. His new band colleagues are Alice Cooper and Joe Perry from Aerosmith; he played alongside them not so long ago, at the 2016 Grammy Awards. “My approach for acting is the same as for music. There is a certain unforeseen item which you can exploit. Music is the quickest way to feeling”, was Johnny Depp confessing in an interview for the Rolling Stone magazine. This feeling Johnny Depp is talking about, also reached to the audience for sure at the first Holywood Vampires concert, which was sold out in 60 seconds. Then other shows came, being appreciated by the audience to the same extent as the first one; one of the most notable was at Rock in Rio, in September 2015.
