Chief of Staff Ciuca presents Romania’s Star order to General Breedlove

Romania’s General Chief of Staff Nicolae Ciuca has attended a change of command ceremony of the SACEUR Supreme Allied Commander Europe (photo) , and presented to outgoing commander Philip Breedlove a Romania’s Star national order.

Curtis M. Scaparrotti took over the SACEUR command from Philip Breedlove at a ceremony held on Wednesday in Mons, Belgium.

Ciuca handed over to Breedlove Romania’s Star in rank of Great Officer, bestowed by Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis “in recognition of his special contribution to the strengthening of Romania’s security inside NATO, of efforts deployed to increase NATO presence on Romania’s soil, as well as of the planning and implementing of the ‘Atlantic Resolve’ mission and the deployment of the United States of Americas European Reassurance Initiative in Romania and the Black Sea region.”

The decoration was awarded upon the proposal of Romania’s Defence Minister Mihnea Motoc.

In a press statement released on Thursday, the Defence Ministry quotes Ciuca as extending thanks to Breedlove for support to the Romanian armed forces as well as congratulating him on his activity and assuring General Scaparrotti of the Romanian troops’ support.
