31.5 M EUR from EU to rehabilitate segments of two national roads

The European Commission on Wednesday approved financing the rehabilitation of road connections Targu Mures – Reghin and Reghin – Saratel, part of National Road 15 and National Road 15A, with an eligible value exceeding 31 million euros, the European Commission informed in a release.
The co-financing from the European Union, through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), is 31.5 million euros. The project is aimed at rehabilitating almost 25 km of National Road 15 between Targu Mures and Reghin, and approximately 47 km of National Road 15A between Reghin and Saratel.
‘This project is further proof of the European Commission’s high interest in modernizing and developing transport infrastructure in Romania. By rehabilitating the roads linking important localities in Mures and Bistrita Nasaud Counties, better road connectivity is ensured in the centre of the country, creating, at the same time, the premises for safer and faster transport,’ said Regional Policy Commissioner Corina Cretu.
The project is co-financed by the Sectoral Operational Program ‘Transport’ of Romania, under Priority Axis 2.
