Today is a celebration day for the citizens of the 28 EU Member States. The 9th of May, Europe Day, marks the transition from the dark reality of the war to the unity in diversity of the European Union and it is one of the European symbols that celebrates the joy to be together in Europe.
It is a day when, once more, we must think about the changes in the Romanian society during the nine years of being part of the European project.
Each year, thousands of citizens take part in visits, debates, concerts and other events in order to celebrate Europe Day and to raise the awareness of public opinion related to the European Union. The Ministry of European Funds joins the events at European level and celebrates with the Romanian people through an outdoor concert.
In the beginning of my mandate, I want to thank the Romanian citizens supporting the European project during these years and I continue to rely on them to make the best of the investments carried out. As concerns me, I take the responsibility to improve some procedures for funds approach and management. I expect simple and coherent procedures and the elimination of responsibilities overlapping. I will also try to avoid some mistakes of the previous programming period and to change the approach for attaining the best results. European funds are a chance to the development of Romania and this ministry needs to focus on modernization and what we leave behind, not on paper check. I and my ministry propose a partnership to the society and the beneficiaries: to develop Romania together.
