New registrations of road vehicles up Q1

Passenger vehicle registrations have advanced in all categories in January – March 2016, with buses and minibuses leading with a 33.7 percent growth in the first quarter of 2016 as compared to Q1 2015, while registrations of freight vehicles increased by 29.3pct year on year, according to data released on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
In the category of road vehicles for goods transport, registrations went up by 17.6pct YOY for lorries, 29.3pct for tractors and by 22pct for trailers and semi-trailers.
Compared to Q4 2015, Q1 2016 new registrations dropped by 9.6pct for passenger vehicles and grew by 6.7pct for freight vehicles .
Data of the Directorate for Driving Licenses and Vehicle Registration (DRPCIV) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs show 247 buses, out of which 30 new, were registered in Q1; also, 10,854 vans, including 1,881 new, 4,954 used registered for the first time in Romania, and 4,019 used and re-registered.
Also according to the DRPCIV, 205 minibuses were registered in Q1 and only 71 were new; most of the used vehicles in this category (115) were re-registered.
