New vehicle registrations in Romania advanced nearly 20 percent in April 2016, to 9,737 units, from the same period of the year before, according to data released by the Department for Driving Licenses and Motor Vehicle Registration (DRPCIV).
Topping the preferences of Romanian drivers in April was Dacia, 1,685 units (+0.84 percent from April, 2015), followed by Skoda (662 units, +30.31 percent), Volkswagen (540 units, -6.74 percent) and Renault (458 units, +84.68 percent).
Data with DRPCIV also show that Chevrolet, Ferrari, Infiniti, Lamborghini, Maserati and SsangYong were the makes recording the fewest new vehicle registrations in April, just one unit each. Also few were the Mercedes-AMG, Smart and Subaru cars registered, just two, six and seven, respectively.
Overall, new vehicle registrations in the first four months of 2016 reached 23,645 units, up 18.73 percent from the first four months of 2015’s 19,915 units.
According to statistics with DRPCIV, Romania’s national car fleet totalled some 6.6 million units as of end-2015, up 5.27 percent from end-2014.
