Several aircraft of the Romanian Air Force will perform exhibition flights at the international exhibition dedicated to aeronautics, defence, national security and private security – BSDA 2016, which will open its doors on Wednesday at ROMAERO S.A in Bucharest.
According to a Defence Ministry release for Agerpres, from May 18 to 20, MiG-21 Lancer, C-27J Spartan, IAR-99 Soim warplanes and also IAR-330 Puma SOCAT gunship will perform exhibition flights. Also, troops of the Defence Intelligence General Directorate will conduct a counter-terrorism exercise on the first day of the exhibition.
“In the specially-designed stands, the Research Agency for Military Gear and Military Technology and the Military Technical Academy, structures subordinated to and coordinated by the Armaments Department, will present technological demonstrations, prototypes and latest solutions and results obtained by the military scientific research. Representatives of Land, Naval and Air Forces, of the ‘Carol’ National Defence University and the Human Resources Management Directorate will present their main achievements and educational offer,” reads the release.
Displayed in the static exhibition will be Air Forces aircraft, along with Land and Naval Forces gear.
The 2016 BSDA is an opportunity for specialists to take part in conferences related to the challenges of the defence and security industry, to be updated with the latest technologies developed by Romania for arms export and the acquisition plans of the Defence Ministry.
The event will enjoy the presence of more than 250 exhibitors from 25 countries in America, Europe and Asia, nine military delegations from Bulgaria, Croatia, Egypt, UAE, France, Georgia, Moldova, Thailand and Turkey.
During the exhibition, on May 20, the Romanian Intelligence Service will organize the second Regional Cyber-Security Conference.
“A special event will be the unveiling, as a world’s first, of Roboscan AERIA, a technology unique in the world, developed by MB Telecom, to X-ray within minutes the fuselage and wings of a plane in order to identify any contraband items or threats onboard or hidden in the technical cavities of the aircraft. Also, for the first time at the BSDA, Bell Helicopter will unveil a demonstrator of the AH-1Z ‘Viper’ gunship,” the said release also reads.
