OSIM experts to take part to PRIA Registered Trademarks conference

The best specialists in Marketing and Communication meet each other at the PRIA Registered Trademarks conference – the most complete event dedicated to the intellectual property and trademarks in Romania that will take place on Thursday at the Novotel Hotel in Bucharest.

Intellectual property is one of the instruments of impact to the economic, social and cultural situation of a country. Research and innovation, strategic components for the economic development and for the humanity’s progress, are tightly bounded to the intellectual property. Science, technology and innovation are fields which constantly generate technological progress, ensuring the development’s perpetuation and contributing to the Romania’s competitive perspectives, as well as to the perspectives of the Romanian companies and institutions, in the context of globalization.

Trademark is an essential item in the companies’ strategy, since it can make the difference between the products and services of each company against the competition. The new European directive on the commercial secrets, approved in April 2016, brings a lot of novelties in this matter”, stated Cristian POPESCU, Managing Associate, Popovici, Nitu, Stoica and Associates.

The EU Regulation No. 2015/2424 of the European Parliament and the European Council on the communitarian trademark was published in the EU Official Journal. The changes have entered into force since March 23, 2016. Starting that day, the Office changed its name in the European Union’s Office for Intellectual Property, while the communitarian trademark became the trademark of the European Union. What are the changes brought by this regulation related to Romanian trademarks?
