VEM Proiect Lighting posts production growth of 24 pc in 2015. Menatwork Group’s plants and distribution network currently have over 300 employees

VEM Proiect Lighting, Menatwork Group’s electrical appliances division, has posted 24 percent growth in its production of lighting appliances in 2015, as a result of a reconfiguration of plant-level strategy.

“At first we had the production process set on large series of lighting appliances. In the last year, we managed to adapt the lines to small series, we are working on order and customising the appliances at the clients’ demand. Moreover, we have completely re-thought the range of products and we have undertaken the conversion to LED technology,” VEM Proiect Lighting administrator Viorel Niculae stated.

The company will invest EUR 300,000 in a piece of new equipment this year. “We are talking about the latest laser-cutting machine that will allow us to be even more flexible in what concerns the production of customized lighting appliances. This investment comes on top of the EUR 500,000 channelled, since 2013, in retooling and the optimisation of production flows,” Niculae pointed out.

VEM Lighting currently has over 2,400 models of lighting appliances in its portfolio and its production capacity is 1,000 units per day. The products are for retail lighting (small and average retail, hypermarkets and malls), industrial areas, street lighting, office spaces and the residential sector.

Over 70 percent of its products feature LED technology, the investments in equipment being made precisely in order to cover the growing demand in this sector. VEM Proiect Lighting registered a turnover of EUR 4,000,000 in 2015, up by 21 percent year-on-year, and the forecast for this year points to a growth of at least 25 percent. The VEM plant is located in Popesti Leordeni, within the Menatwork industrial platform.

The Medical Emergency Units in Suceava and Onesti, the Nemo Curier logistics centre, Metropolis Centre, the Arad medical textiles plant, the Agarbiceanu and Eminescu schools in Cluj are among VEM’s main lighting projects completed in 2016.

VEM Proiect Lighting is member of the Menatwork Group, which specialises in the production, marketing and assembling of constructions materials and installations. The Group started its activity in Romania in 1994. VEM Proiect Lighting obtained an ISO 9001:2008 certificate in April 2016.

The Menatwork Group consists of 11 companies with a complex portfolio of products and services for constructions, interior and exterior design. The industrial park on which the Group companies are present in Bucharest currently covers a surface area of 90,000 square metres in the city’s southern part, more exactly in Popesti Leordeni.

Menatwork Group’s plants and distribution network currently have over 300 employees. Menatwork also owns its own retail network in Bucharest (in Popesti Leordeni), Cluj Napoca, Craiova, Constanta and Bacau.
